Author Interview: William Bundy

The Viluverse

Hello Will! Firstly, thanks for taking part in this interview. For anyone who isn’t already familiar, would you like to start off by telling us a little bit about yourself?

Hello there! Thank you so much for having me. I’m a writer and filmmaker with a keen interest in exploring and creating fictional worlds. I’ve been an avid film and book lover since I was younger and have always admired how books and films can be transformative experiences.

Could you tell us more about your sci-fi saga “The Viluverse” and how you’ve found working on Patreon?

“The Viluverse” is an expansive ongoing sci-fi saga concerning a shared dream universe created for passengers traveling to another planet from a future Earth. The aim is to create an entire universe that allows people to do whatever they want in a realistic lucid dreaming environment, within certain parameters, of course. Our main character Jensen is the protagonist who embarks on a series of adventures within this universe, and one could almost think of it as the book equivalent to an MMORPG. So far, I’ve found Patreon relatively easy to use, and I intend to see how I can explore it further as time goes on.

Is going via self-publishing & trad-publishing routes something you ever considered?

I am actively considering these options going forward, but for now, I’m mainly concentrating on providing an excellent online experience via Patreon and Vocal and seeing where the story goes from there really.

Was there any character in The Viluverse that you connected with or enjoyed writing more than all the rest?

So far, I am really enjoying the main character of Jensen. He’s meant to be the audience surrogate and has a very cool kind of enigmatic/fun quality to him with a darker secret that I’m finding to be a lot of fun to explore.

Is there anything you would do differently if you were to start writing a new series? Whether it be in the planning or writing phase.

I think I would probably lay out more of an overall story bible for where I’m heading, but at the same time, it’s a lot of fun to just explore and find it as I’m going along and, actually, the story seems to be going in an exciting direction anyway which is proving to be very very interesting.

Would you like to tell us some more about the film-making side of your work? How do you find managing the balance between that and writing?

It’s a challenge for sure – I’m currently working on two short films and always like to try and dabble with screenwriting, too, having finished a feature film script quite recently and actively keeping my hand in there, really. I have other features and shorts written, but it’s also an interesting exploratory period for me in that sense and just seeing where things go.

Are there any fun facts we should know about William Bundy?

I’m a secret astrology and paranormal/cryptozoology buff - apart from that, I’m a man of mystery!
